Project Summary |
| |
On March 17, 2009, the Hayward City Council approved a high-density, mixed-use, transit-oriented project at the South Hayward BART station. The project involves development of the BART property at the South Hayward BART station and the properties between Dixon Street and Mission Bouelvard, with 788 residential units, 206 of which would be below-market/affordable apartments to be developed by Eden Housing, Inc. A new full-sized grocery store is also envisioned to be developed underneath 125 affordable family apartments. A new 910 space parking garage is also proposed along the BART tracks just south of the BART station to serve BART commuters. Financing for the project includes $47 million in State Proposition 1C grants, along with nearly $20M in support from the City’s Redevelopment Agency. The project summary brochure below provides an overview and anticipated phasing of the project. |
